I have just updated the Image Uploader again. Besides fixing the performance issues that Toby and 'Goddess' encountered, there are a few really neat features in there that will make your life much easier when uploading large amounts of photos.
New Uploader Features
Resize before upload. This feature will resize your photos to the largest size enabled in your gallery prior to uploading. That generally reduces upload time more than 20 times! Naturally this will only work when you upload 'display only' photos.
Java upload available for FireFox. Now Mac and Linux users can use our unique drag & drop uploader as well. Please note that you will need to use Java 1.4.2 and use the FireFox plug-in that enables LiveConnect on the Mac. For more information, see http://javaplugin.sourceforge.net. At this point in time the uploader will not work with Safari. We're working on adding that functionality as soon as possible. Microsoft Internet Explorer will remain using the ActiveX control.
New Color Correcting Features
We did some research recently what galleries sell why and what the difference is with galleries that do not sell as well. One main difference was whether the images were color corrected or not. We understand that after shooting 1000+ photos over a weekend there is no point in color correcting all of them, since only a relatively small percentage will be ordered. So we have added a few options to the edit gallery screen that allows you not only to set the sharpening but also whether you want to auto-correct (comparable with auto-levels in Photoshop) or even manually set the levels. Please note that these settings will only change <u>the display image</u>. We will never alter your print ready file.
With so many settings that you can apply on an image, I also thought it would be about time to add a preview. The preview screen can be found when you browse to a photo and select 'Edit Display Settings' from the photo menu. This screen is pretty powerful as not only can you override all the gallery settings (including the placement of the watermark Darin!) for a particular photo, but you can also apply the settings over the entire gallery if you are happy with the preview.
